    Multiple Road Users Detection And Tracking System In Urban Mixed Traffic Scenes

    Video analytic technology in traffic control and monitoring is getting more attention in recent years. This is because video analytic technology can perform traffic surveillance to extract traffic information such as vehicle counting and classification from video sequence. Large amount of road user data can be generated from video and this data would benefit for traffic planner. This provides the impact of video analytic in traffic surveillance. However, multiple road users tracking in urban traffic remains challenging because of large variation of road user appearance. To overcome the problems of multiple object tracking in mixed urban traffic, which are mis-detection, frequent ID switches and mis-classification, a system known as City Tracker, which incorporates Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), YOLOv3 and DeepSORT is proposed in mixed urban traffic. City Tracker predicts the potential bounding box coordinates from the result of YOLOv3 and DeepSORT, then matches with the latest actual bounding box to overcome the mis-detection and frequent identity switch. On the other hand, MLE provides trajectory-based classification to solve mis-classification. This solution is tested with Urban Tracker dataset based on detection and tracking performance. The performance evaluations show that implementation of City Tracker increases Multiple Object Tracking Accuracy (MOTA) from 0.3503 to 0.3793 (8.28%) and Multiple Object Tracking Precision (MOTP) from 0.6245 to 0.6442 (3.15%) which are calculated from Precision and Recall as the evaluation metrics. MLE improves Recall from 0.7032 to 0.7838 (11.46%) and Precision from 0.7214 to 0.8334 (15.53%) in classification performance, which is better than conventional YOLOv3 and DeepSORT that do not consider City Tracker

    Rostral medial prefrontal dysfunctions and consummatory pleasure in schizophrenia: A meta-analysis of functional imaging studies

    A large number of imaging studies have examined the neural correlates of consummatory pleasure and anticipatory pleasure in schizophrenia, but the brain regions where schizophrenia patients consistently demonstrate dysfunctions remain unclear. We performed a series of meta-analyses on imaging studies to delineate the regions associated with consummatory and anticipatory pleasure dysfunctions in schizophrenia. Nineteen functional magnetic resonance imaging or positron emission tomography studies using whole brain analysis were identified through a literature search (PubMed and EBSCO; januaiy 1990-February 2014). Activation likelihood estimation was performed using the GingerALE software. The clusters identified were obtained after controlling for the false discovery rate at p<0.05 and applying a minimum cluster size of 200 mm(3). It was found that schizophrenia patients exhibited decreased activation mainly in the rostral medial prefrontal cortex (rmPFC), the right parahippocampus/ amygala, and other limbic regions (e.g., the subgenual anterior cingulate cortex, the putamen, and the medial globus pallidus) when consummating pleasure. Task instructions (feeling vs stimuli) were differentially related to medial prefrontal dysfunction in schizophrenia. When patients anticipated pleasure, reduced activation in the left putamen was observed, despite the limited number of studies. Our findings suggest that the medial prefrontal cortex and limbic regions may play an important role in neural dysfunction underlying deficits in consummatory pleasure in schizophrenia.     Collective plasmonic modes of metal nano-particles in two-dimensional periodic regular arrays

    We investigate the collective plasmonic modes of metal nano-particles in periodic two-dimensional (2D) arrays within a point-dipole description. As an open system, the full-dynamic dispersion relations of the 2D arrays are obtained through an efficient method which gives an effective polarizability describing the collective response of a system. Both the dispersion relations and mode qualities are simultaneously related to the imaginary part of the effective polarizability, which has contributions from the single-particle response as well as the inter-particle coupling. The transversal long-range dipolar interaction is dominated by a wave term together with a purely geometrical constant representing the static geometrical contribution to resonant frequencies. As concrete examples, we considered small Ag spheres arranged in a square lattice. We find that inside the light-cone, the transverse quasi-mode has a reasonably high mode quality while the two in-plane modes show significant radiation damping. Near the light-line, we observe strong coupling with free photons for the bands of the transverse mode and the transversal in-plane mode, and the longitudinal in-plane mode exhibits a negative group-velocity inside the light-cone. Vanishing group velocities in the light-cone for all the quasi-modes are found to be intrinsic properties of the 2D metal nano-sphere dense arrays.Comment: 26 pages, 8 figure

    Molecular landscape of IDH-mutant primary astrocytoma Grade IV/glioblastomas

    WHO 2016 classified glioblastomas into IDH-mutant and IDH-wildtype with the former having a better prognosis but there was no study on IDH-mutant primary glioblastomas only, as previous series included secondary glioblastomas. We recruited a series of 67 IDH-mutant primary glioblastomas/astrocytoma IV without a prior low-grade astrocytoma and examined them using DNA-methylation profiling, targeted sequencing, RNA sequencing and TERT promoter sequencing, and correlated the molecular findings with clinical parameters. The median OS of 39.4 months of 64 cases and PFS of 25.9 months of 57 cases were better than the survival data of IDH-wildtype glioblastomas and IDH-mutant secondary glioblastomas retrieved from datasets. The molecular features often seen in glioblastomas, such as EGFR amplification, combined +7/-10, and TERT promoter mutations were only observed in 6/53 (11.3%), 4/53 (7.5%), and 2/67 (3.0%) cases, respectively, and gene fusions were found only in two cases. The main mechanism for telomere maintenance appeared to be alternative lengthening of telomeres as ATRX mutation was found in 34/53 (64.2%) cases. In t-SNE analyses of DNA-methylation profiles, with an exceptional of one case, a majority of our cases clustered to IDH-mutant high-grade astrocytoma subclass (40/53; 75.5%) and the rest to IDH-mutant astrocytoma subclass (12/53; 22.6%). The latter was also enriched with G-CIMP high cases (12/12; 100%). G-CIMP-high status and MGMT promoter methylation were independent good prognosticators for OS (p = 0.022 and p = 0.002, respectively) and TP53 mutation was an independent poor prognosticator (p = 0.013) when correlated with other clinical parameters. Homozygous deletion of CDKN2A/B was not correlated with OS (p = 0.197) and PFS (p = 0.278). PDGFRA amplification or mutation was found in 16/59 (27.1%) of cases and was correlated with G-CIMP-low status (p = 0.010). Aside from the three well-known pathways of pathogenesis in glioblastomas, chromatin modifying and mismatch repair pathways were common aberrations (88.7% and 20.8%, respectively), the former due to high frequency of ATRX involvement. We conclude that IDH-mutant primary glioblastomas have better prognosis than secondary glioblastomas and have major molecular differences from other commoner glioblastomas. G-CIMP subgroups, MGMT promoter methylation, and TP53 mutation are useful prognostic adjuncts

    Facile Synthesis of Monodisperse CdS Nanocrystals via Microreaction

    CdS-based nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted extensive interest due to their potential application as key luminescent materials for blue and white LEDs. In this research, the continuous synthesis of monodisperse CdS NCs was demonstrated utilizing a capillary microreactor. The enhanced heat and mass transfer in the microreactor was useful to reduce the reaction temperature and residence time to synthesize monodisperse CdS NCs. The superior stability of the microreactor and its continuous operation allowed the investigation of synthesis parameters with high efficiency. Reaction temperature was found to be a key parameter for balancing the reactivity of CdS precursors, while residence time was shown to be an important factor that governs the size and size distribution of the CdS NCs. Furthermore, variation of OA concentration was demonstrated to be a facile tuning mechanism for controlling the size of the CdS NCs. The variation of the volume percentage of OA from 10.5 to 51.2% and the variation of the residence time from 17 to 136 s facilitated the synthesis of monodisperse CdS NCs in the size range of 3.0–5.4 nm, and the NCs produced photoluminescent emissions in the range of 391–463 nm

    Shugan Xiaozhi Decoction Attenuates Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis by Enhancing PPAR α

    This study aimed to investigate the effects of Shugan Xiaozhi decoction (SX) on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) induced by high-fat diet in rats. The rats were randomly divided into 6 groups, namely, control, model, fenofibrate, and three different dosage of SX (10, 20, and 40 g/kg/day, p.o.). After establishing the NASH model, at 8 weeks of the experiment, treatments were administrated intragastrically to the fenofibrate and SX groups. All rats were killed after 4 weeks of treatment. Compared with the model group, alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), free fatty acid (FFA), total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) serum in the serum were significantly reduced in all SX treatment groups in a dose-dependent manner. Evidence showed that SX could protect the liver by upregulating the gene and protein expressions of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) and liver fatty acid binding protein (L-FABP) in a dose-dependent manner. Chemical constituents of SX were further analyzed by ultraperformance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (UPLC-ESI-MS) and 30 chemicals in the ethanolic extract were tentatively identified. To conclude, our results clearly indicated that SX could protect liver functions and relieve hepatic steatosis and inflammation

    Concomitant Hepatorenal Dysfunction and Malnutrition in Valvular Heart Surgery:Long-Term Prognostic Implications for Death and Heart Failure

    BACKGROUND: Strategies to improve long-term prediction of heart failure and death in valvular surgery are urgently needed because of an increasing number of procedures globally. This study sought to report the prevalence, changes, and prognostic implications of concomitant hepatorenal dysfunction and malnutrition in valvular surgery. METHODS AND RESULTS: In 909 patients undergoing valvular surgery, 3 groups were defined based on hepatorenal function (the modified model for end-stage liver disease excluding international normalized ratio score) and nutritional status (Controlling Nutritional Status score): normal hepatorenal function and nutrition (normal), hepatorenal dysfunction or malnutrition alone (mild), and concomitant hepatorenal dysfunction and malnutrition (severe). Overall, 32%, 46%, and 19% of patients were classified into normal, mild, and severe groups, respectively. Over a 4.1-year median follow-up, mild and severe groups in-curred a higher risk of mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 3.17 [95% CI, 1.40–7.17] and HR, 9.30 [95% CI, 4.09– 21.16], respectively), cardiovascular death (subdistribution HR, 3.29 [95% CI, 1.14– 9.52] and subdistribution HR, 9.29 [95% CI, 3.09– 27.99]), heart failure hospitalization (subdistribution HR, 2.11 [95% CI, 1.25– 3.55] and subdistribution HR, 3.55 [95% CI, 2.04– 6.16]), and adverse outcomes (HR, 2.11 [95% CI, 1.25– 3.55] and HR, 3.55 [95% CI, 2.04– 6.16]). Modified model for end-stage liver disease excluding international normalized ratio and controlling nutritional status scores improved the predictive ability of European System for Cardiac Operative Risk Evaluation (area under the curve: 0.80 versus 0.73, P<0.001) and Society of Thoracic Surgeons score (area under the curve: 0.79 versus 0.72, P=0.004) for all-cause mortality. One year following surgery (n=707), patients with persistent concomitant hepatorenal dysfunction and malnutrition (severe) experienced worse outcomes than those without.  CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant hepatorenal dysfunction and malnutrition was frequent and strongly linked to heart failure and mortality in valvular surgery
